Most calls start with something dripping, running, not heating or not draining. We find out why, fix that, and tell you plainly if anything else is close to failing.

Leaks & burst pipes

Water on the basement floor, a stain spreading across the ceiling, a pipe that split behind the washer. Close the main shut-off first; we’ll walk you to it on the phone if you need. Then we find the break, cut out the bad section and replace it in copper or PEX.

Sump pumps

Spring storms are when an old pump gives out. We replace failed pumps, fix stuck floats and check valves, and add a battery backup so a power outage during a storm doesn’t mean a wet basement.

January cold snaps freeze lines on outside walls, in crawlspaces and over garages. We thaw them safely, repair any split, and can reroute or insulate the run so it doesn’t happen every winter.

What people ask us most.

Where’s my main shut-off?

In most homes with a basement it’s where the water line comes in through the foundation wall, usually right next to the water meter. Without a basement, look in the utility room or crawlspace near the water heater. A round handle turns clockwise until it stops; a lever turns a quarter turn so it sits across the pipe. On a well, switching off the well pump breaker stops the flow. Find it once now, before you need it, and call us if you can’t.

Should I repair or replace my water heater?

It depends on what failed. A bad igniter, thermocouple, element or thermostat is usually a repair. Water leaking from the tank itself, or rusty hot water, means the tank is going and replacement is the honest answer. For an older heater with a pricey repair, we give you both prices and let you choose.

Do you give prices over the phone?

For some jobs, yes: a standard water heater swap or a toilet replacement we can usually quote from a call or a photo. Leaks and drains we need to see, because the fix depends on what we find. Either way you get the price before we start, and it doesn’t change unless you approve the change.

A pipe froze. What do I do?

Open the faucet it feeds so melting water has somewhere to go, and warm the area with a space heater or hair dryer, never an open flame. Look along the pipe for a split before it thaws; if you see one, shut off the main first. If the frozen spot is inside a wall or you can’t find it, call us.
