Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 7, 2026
Salty Web Co ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit our website or hire us, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep this short and in plain English on purpose.

01Who we are
Salty Web Co is a small, first-responder-owned web design business based in Round Lake, Illinois, serving Lake County, McHenry County and the northwest Chicago suburbs. We build and maintain websites for contractors and small businesses. For any question about this policy or your personal information, email us at [email protected].
02Information we collect
Information you give us
When you send the contact form on our website, what you typed — your name, email address, business name, and a description of what you need — is submitted to the form service provided by our website host, which records the submission and notifies us by email. We hold that enquiry in our email account and in the host's form dashboard.
If that submission cannot be completed for any reason, the form falls back to opening a pre-filled message in your own email application instead. In that case nothing is recorded on our website unless and until you choose to send the email yourself.
If you become a client, we also collect the information you send us in the normal course of the project — for example business details, logos and photos, page content, login details for services you ask us to work on, and billing information needed to invoice you.
Information collected automatically
Our website is hosted by a third-party hosting provider. Like almost all web hosts, it keeps standard server logs that may include your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you request, and the date and time of your visit. This is used for security, troubleshooting, and basic traffic volume — not to identify you personally.
Payment information
We do not collect or store your credit card or bank account numbers on our website. If you pay us, payment is handled directly by a third-party payment processor or by a method you and we agree on, and that provider's own privacy policy governs the information you give them.
03How we use your information
- To respond to your enquiry and prepare a free mockup, quote, or proposal
- To perform the work you hire us to do and communicate with you about your project
- To invoice you and keep our own business and tax records
- To maintain, secure, and troubleshoot our website
- To comply with our legal obligations
We do not send marketing emails to people who have not asked to hear from us, and we never sell your personal information.
04Cookies and tracking
This website uses the Meta Pixel, an advertising tool provided by Meta Platforms, Inc. It sets cookies and reports to Meta.
The pixel tells us how many people arrived from our Facebook or Instagram ads and how many of those went on to contact us. When you visit a page carrying it, Meta receives your IP address, basic browser and device information, and which page you viewed. If you send us an enquiry form, we record that a form was completed — we do not send Meta the name, phone number, email address or message you typed. Meta's handling of this data is governed by the Meta Privacy Policy.
You can refuse it. Browser settings that block third-party cookies or trackers will stop the pixel, and so will most ad blockers. Our site works normally either way — nothing on it depends on the pixel, including the enquiry forms. You can also adjust what Meta shows you in your Meta ad preferences.
Our website also loads fonts from Google Fonts so the site displays correctly. When your browser requests those fonts, Google receives your IP address and basic browser information. Google's handling of that data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
We also use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used — how many people visit, which pages they read, roughly where in the world they are, and whether they went on to contact us. It sets cookies and reports to Google. We use it to see what is working, not to identify you: we do not send Google your name, phone number, email address or the contents of your enquiry, and we have not enabled Google’s advertising or remarketing features. Google’s handling of that data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy, and you can opt out of it entirely with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, by blocking third-party cookies, or with most ad blockers.
We run no other advertising trackers or third-party analytics. If we add any, we will update this policy first.
05How we share information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only in these limited situations:
- Service providers. Companies that help us operate — for example our website host, our email provider, our form service, and any payment processor. They may only use the information to provide their service to us.
- Advertising and analytics. Meta receives the pixel data, and Google receives the analytics data, described in section 04 when you visit pages carrying them. We send neither of them the contents of your enquiry.
- Services you ask us to set up. If you hire us to configure hosting, a domain, a Google Business Profile, or a similar third-party service on your behalf, we will provide the information those services require.
- Legal reasons. If we are required to by law, subpoena, or valid legal process, or where we believe it is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
- Business transfer. If our business is sold or merged, client information may transfer as part of that transaction.
06How long we keep it
We keep enquiry emails and project files for as long as we need them for the project and for our business records afterwards — typically for the duration of our working relationship plus the period required for tax and legal recordkeeping. You can ask us to delete your information at any time, subject to any records we are legally required to keep.
07How we protect it
Our website is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection. We use reputable providers for hosting and email, keep software up to date, and limit access to client information to those who need it. That said, no method of transmitting or storing information over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not send us passwords or other sensitive credentials by plain email — ask us and we will arrange a secure method.
08Your privacy rights
You can email us at any time to ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to ask what we hold and why. We will respond within a reasonable time and will not charge you or treat you differently for making a request.
California residents
If you live in California, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request deletion or correction of it, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell personal information, and never have. However, our use of the Meta Pixel described in section 04 may count as “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising under California law. (Google Analytics, configured as described above, is used for measurement rather than advertising.) You can stop it by blocking third-party cookies or trackers in your browser, by using an ad blocker, or by emailing us and asking us to opt you out.
UK and EU residents
If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, you have rights under the UK GDPR / GDPR including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Our lawful bases for processing are your consent (when you contact us), the performance of a contract (when we do work for you), and our legitimate interests in operating and securing our business. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
09Children's privacy
Our website and services are intended for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, email us and we will delete it.
10Links to other sites
Our website may link to other websites we do not control — for example a client's website or a third-party tool. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.
11Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If the change is significant, we will make that clear. Continuing to use our website after an update means you accept the revised policy.
