Terms of Service
Last updated: July 31, 2026
These terms govern your use of the Salty Web Co website and the design services we provide. We have written them in plain English. If we sign a separate written proposal or contract with you, that document controls wherever it differs from these terms.

01Agreement to these terms
By using this website or hiring Salty Web Co ("we," "us," or "our"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the site or our services. If you are agreeing on behalf of a company, you confirm you have authority to bind that company.
02What we do
We design, build, redesign, host, and maintain websites for small businesses, and provide related services such as local search setup. The exact services for your project are the ones described in the written proposal, quote, or email we agree on with you.
03Free mockups and quotes
We offer a free homepage mockup before you pay anything. You are under no obligation to proceed after seeing it, and you owe us nothing if you decide not to.
A free mockup remains our property unless and until you hire us and pay for the project in full. You may not use, copy, publish, or give a free mockup to another designer or developer to build from. Quotes are valid for 30 days unless we say otherwise.
04Pricing and payment
Our prices are flat and quoted up front — we do not bill by the hour or add surprise charges. Payment is split in two:
- 50% deposit to book your project and begin work
- 50% balance when the site is complete and ready to go live
Work begins once the deposit is received. Your website goes live, and ownership transfers to you, once the final balance is paid. Recurring services such as hosting and care plans are billed monthly in advance.
Prices shown on our website are in U.S. dollars and do not include any applicable taxes, domain registration fees, third-party service fees, paid plugins, or stock photography, unless we say so in writing. If an invoice is not paid within 14 days of its due date, we may pause work on your project until the account is brought current.
05Timelines and rush work
We move fast, and most projects go live within days. Where we offer a 24–72 hour rush turnaround, that timeframe begins once we have received your deposit and everything we need from you — content, photos, logos, and access to any accounts required. Rush availability depends on our current schedule and must be agreed in writing before we start.
All timeframes are good-faith estimates, not guarantees. Delays caused by late materials, slow feedback, third-party providers, or changes to the agreed scope will shift the schedule accordingly.
06What we need from you
To build your site we need text, images, logos, and account access from you in a timely way. You agree that:
- You own, or have permission to use, everything you give us — text, photos, logos, fonts, videos, and trademarks
- The material you provide is accurate, lawful, and not misleading
- You will review and respond to our questions and proofs promptly
You are responsible for the accuracy and legality of the content you supply. If a project stalls for more than 60 days because we are waiting on you, we may close it out; restarting later may require a new quote.
07Revisions and scope
Each project includes a reasonable number of rounds of revisions to the agreed design, as stated in your proposal. Revisions are for refining what we agreed to build. Requests that add new pages, new features, or a different design direction are outside the original scope, and we will quote them separately before doing the work — never after.
08Ownership of your website
Once you have paid in full, the finished website design and the custom code we produced for you are yours. Your domain, your content, and your accounts are yours at all times. If you ever leave us, we will hand over your files and access cleanly.
We keep ownership of our own underlying tools, frameworks, code libraries, and general know-how, which we may reuse on other projects. Third-party components (fonts, plugins, stock images, and similar) remain owned by their creators and are provided to you under their own licences.
Unless you ask us in writing not to, we may display your finished website in our portfolio and marketing materials, and link to it.
09Third-party services
Your website may rely on services we do not control — domain registrars, hosting platforms, email providers, Google Business Profile, payment processors, plugins, and similar. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their availability, pricing changes, policy changes, or outages.
10Hosting and care plans
Our care plan is billed monthly in advance and includes the services listed on our pricing page. It is not a fixed-term contract — you can cancel at any time, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the month you have already paid for. We do not pro-rate partial months.
Care plans cover hosting, backups, security updates, uptime monitoring, and reasonable content edits. They do not cover new pages, redesigns, new features, or repairing damage caused by changes made by you or a third party — we will quote that work separately.
If you cancel a care plan, you remain the owner of your website and we will provide your files so you can move to another host.
11Cancellation and refunds
You may cancel a project at any time by telling us in writing. If you cancel after we have started work, the deposit is non-refundable, because it reserves your place in our schedule and covers work already performed. You will not owe the remaining balance, and any work completed to that point remains our property unless you pay for it.
We may decline or withdraw from a project — for example if the work falls outside what we do, or if the relationship becomes unworkable. If we withdraw for a reason that is not your fault, we will refund any portion of your deposit covering work not yet performed.
12No guarantee of results
We build fast, well-structured websites and set up local search listings properly. However, search rankings, traffic, leads, sales, and revenue depend on many factors outside our control, including search engine algorithms, competition, and your market. We do not guarantee any particular ranking, traffic level, or business result, and nothing on our website should be read as such a promise.
13Warranty disclaimer
We will perform our services with reasonable skill and care. Beyond that, our website and services are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the website will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
14Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Salty Web Co will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, business, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to our website or our services — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total liability for any claim relating to a project will not exceed the amount you actually paid us for that project. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, such as liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
15Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Salty Web Co and its owner from any claims, damages, losses, and reasonable legal costs arising from content or materials you supplied to us, your use of the website we build, or your breach of these terms or of any law.
16Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of [YOUR STATE], without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in [YOUR STATE], and you and we consent to that jurisdiction. We would always rather sort a problem out by talking first — please email us before taking any formal step.
17Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows the current version. Changes apply going forward and do not alter the terms of a project already underway. Continuing to use our website or services after an update means you accept the revised terms.
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
