Yelp Ads or your own website: paying for clicks or calls?

Yelp charges contractors per click on their ad. A click isn’t a call, and it definitely isn’t a job.

Who else gets the call

One homeowner. How many contractors?

The same request can go to other businesses too, if the customer chooses. Everyone who gets it pays, and one gets the job, often whoever calls first.

Only you. No fee for the call, and nobody else is dialing them at the same moment.

Yelp’s own guide to Request a Quote says customers are offered the option to send the same request to other businesses.

The lead math

What does each job really cost you?

Yelp charges per click, not per lead, so put in what a real lead ends up costing you: your monthly ad spend divided by the leads it brought.

Every job you win costs $250 in leads.

Two taps from Google to your phone ringing.

Every site we build is set up to turn a search into a call. That’s the whole job of a contractor website, and it’s where most template and AI sites lose the customer.

The honest version

You don’t have to quit cold turkey.

Yelp still makes sense when

  • Your customers already look for your trade on Yelp
  • You keep your free Yelp page complete and answer reviews

Your own site starts paying off when

  • Google is where your customers search
  • You want to stop paying for clicks that never call
  • You want one place that’s fully yours
Yelp questions

Asked by contractors, answered straight.

How much do Yelp ads cost for contractors?
Yelp charges per click, priced by supply and demand, and never more than your monthly budget. A Yelp ad partner reports a minimum of about $150 a month. There’s no reliable average cost per click.
Is Yelp Request a Quote free?
It’s free to set up, but the customer is offered the option to send the same request to other businesses, so you may be one of several quotes.
Should a contractor advertise on Yelp or build a website?
Keep your free Yelp page complete either way. Paid Yelp ads only make sense if your customers really search there. A website you own works on Google, where most homeowners start, and doesn’t charge per click.
